The Coopers Road Estate in Southwark has been redeveloped by Peabody across multiple phases. The first two phases comprised 154 new mixed-tenure dwellings in place of the high rise flats that were on the original 1960s site.
CHP was installed as part of the initial development and the design incorporates provision for the addition of alternative technologies delivering an energy efficient project designed to be ‘carbon neutral’ by 2020.
This scheme is the final phase in the original Cooper’s Road estate regeneration masterplan from 2000. The scheme includes 47 new homes, ranging from 4-bedroom townhouses to 1-bedroom flats, centred around a communal open space. 65% of the homes will be affordable.
The scheme also features a car park, play facilities for children and growing plots for residents. The homes are designed to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, reducing the total carbon emissions for the site by 20%.
