Newham Council selected Bouygues Development in partnership with One Housing as the affordable housing provider to regenerate the Canning Town and Custom House area.
Under Phase 1 One Housing managed the 71 units of affordable housing, consisting of 51 for affordable rent and 20 for shared ownership. Phase 2 comprising 55 shared ownership units started on site in early 2015.
The project was procured via a Sales and Purchase Agreement. BPP’s team was extensively involved in working with One Housing and their legal advisors in the agreement of the legal documentation. The common goal was to create a high quality ‘landmark’ regeneration scheme on time and with the best price and value.
Phases 1 and 2 feature communal garden at podium level including a play area for children. The development provides commercial space for a Morrisons supermarket and up to 15 smaller retail units which has potential to provide new jobs and bring new business to the local area. Phase 2 includes a 196 bed hotel.
