The redevelopment of the Kidwells Estate in Maidenhead creates a landmark scheme, helping to create a diverse residential community.
Kidwells Estate is conveniently situated within walking distance of Maidenhead town centre .The scheme consists of seven individual three to four-storey blocks.
The redevelopment provides 204 homes, consisting of 75 homes for rent to existing and new tenants, nine shared ownership homes and 120 homes for private sale. The potential to maximise the number of private for sales units was key in the viability of the project. To assist in this, BPP procured the appointment of a design team through a design competition that also focussed on the viability of the mixed tenure project through the number of private for sale units being provided. The construction phasing was developed to minimise the need to decant existing residents, thus saving off site provision costs.
Through value engineering and extensive market testing BPP ensured best value on One Housing Group’s investment whilst delivering a high quality product.
Kidwells Estate features communal areas, private amenity spaces, and landscaped gardens. In addition, the development has been designed to be energy efficient through the use of photovoltaic panels.
